Chelsea stars kicked off a Christmas fundraising campaign today for Help a London Child by recording their own video appeal. The club have dedicated the game against Manchester United on Sunday 19th December to raising funds for our national charity partner.
Help a London Child provides support and opportunities to disadvantaged children and young people across the capital by funding local grass-roots groups. One in three young people in the capital live below the poverty line and a host of players including captain John Terry, Didier Drogba and Ashley Cole as well as manager Carlo Ancelotti, launched the appeal to encourage supporters to make a donation of £5 to the charity.
Chelsea Manager Carlo Ancelotti welcomed the campaign, “It’s terrible that many young kids right here in London don’t get the opportunities many of us take for granted. We’re asking our fans and all Londoners to make a difference this Christmas and make a donation of £5 to Help a London Child.”
“It’s really easy to donate, just pick up your mobile phone text ‘CHELSEA’ and send it to 70100. It doesn’t matter where you are, at a football match, at home in front of the TV — you can Help a London Child today.”
By texting ‘CHELSEA’ to 70100, supporters can make a one-off donation of £5 to help improve the lives of disadvantaged children in London. At least £4.45 goes to straight to Help a London Child. Operator charges may apply. For more information visit www.helpalondonchild.co.uk
Chelsea also donated a series of money can’t buy prizes to the charity which have been auctioned by Johnny Vaughan on 95.8 Capital FM throughout the week including the chance to be Chairman for the Day, the opportunity for a child to be a match day mascot as well as tickets for the game against Manchester United.

It’s time to take a journey on the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) from Bank to Canary Wharf.
The DLR is run entirely by computer systems which drive and brake the trains and switch the track points. There is no driver to guide the train. However there is almost always a ‘passenger assistant’ who is there to ensure everyone’s security (and check for valid tickets!).

The Gooner Review charity Screening – 13th October 2009 – Phoenix Theatre, East Finchely
Introduced by actor and comedian Paul Kaye, the Gooner Review charity screening at the world famous Phoenix Cinema was a great success, featuring a cinema with an audience of entirely Arsenal fans… A spectacular sight! 100% of profits from ticket sales went to Bob Wilson’s Willow Foundation and the Phoenix Cinemas Restoration Project.
