No driver should receive a ticket for failing to wear their seat belt. If you don’t wear a vehicle safety belt, who are you hurting? Who’s rights are you infringing if you don’t wear a seatbelt? It’s stupid! Stop Seat Belt Enforcement Zones! Click It or Ticket (CIOT) is a revenue scheme for the nanny state and has nothing to do with “safety”. If I don’t wear my seat belt, that’s none of your business, and it’s none of my business if you don’t wear yours. New Hampshire doesn’t have a primary or secondary seatbelt enforcement law, and thier state traffic fatality-rate is very low. Road-side safety belt checkpoints are unnecessary and unconstitutional. Laws that allow police to stop drivers for not wearing their seat belts are enacted to lure millions in federal funds (taxpayer funds) to the state. The Colorado State Patrol rolls out en masse each year to enforce Colorado’s current secondary seat belt law through the zero tolerance “Click It or Ticket” enforcement program—funded by federal (taxpayer) tax dollars through the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration—which includes the use of both unmarked and low-profile (marked but with no rooftop light bar) patrol cars.
